Sunroom

Because all-season sunrooms are more expensive to build, most people find it’s more cost-effective to build a three-season sunroom addition. However, the lack of insulation makes them a bit more difficult to keep warm when you decide to enjoy the room in the winter. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to keep your home comfortable all through the year.

Add a Thick Rug or Carpet

Most people elect to install hardwood or low-maintenance tile to their three-season room to make it feel more like an outdoor patio space. However, these materials aren’t very comfortable in the winter. Instead of walking around on cold floors, you can purchase a thick rug or carpet pad to protect your feet and help keep any heat in the room.

Use an Electric Heater

Since three-season sunrooms aren’t typically the most-used room in the house, you don’t need to waste money trying to heat the space all day every day. Instead, you can buy a space heater or electric fireplace to keep the room when it’s in use. Not only do they work quickly to warm up the room, but they also lower energy bills because you can unplug them when you’re done. Best of all, electric fireplaces come in many designs to make a stylish, cozy statement.

Hang Insulated Drapes

Aside from the type of insulation, most three-season rooms use less efficient windows. As a result, all of the large glass panes make space feel colder than the rest of your home. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution to this problem. By hanging thermal-insulated draperies, you create another barrier to keep the cold out. In addition, they allow you to enjoy more privacy whenever you prefer it.

Open the Door

Lastly, you can keep the door between the rest of your home and your sunroom closed to keep your home more comfortable, but if you want to let some of the heat into that room, all you have to do is open the door for a few hours. While this method isn’t as effective as some of the others, every little bit helps to make your home more comfortable throughout the cold winter months.
