Our team member will first and foremost listen to your remodeling ideas, priorities, needs, and budget. Then you’ll be able to discuss specific product options, view product samples, and ask any questions you might have. “Renovation” and “remodel” are similar but distinct terms. A renovation usually means repairing or restoring an existing feature in your home, like replacing an old window. A remodel, on the other hand, is intended to alter the appearance or functionality of the space.

Of course! We love to show off our work. Please check out our gallery of past projects to see some examples of our window replacements, deck installs, siding installations, and more.

Project timelines vary based on scope, but most installations fall within a general timeframe. For example, window replacements are typically completed in 1 to 4 days, while siding projects may take about 1 to 2 weeks.

Not much! We simply request that you remove any personal belongings from the area so that they are safely out of the way. Please be sure to take any pictures off the walls to avoid potential breakage as well. When our installers arrive, they’ll get to work!

Yes, most projects can be done year-round. Roof replacements and gutter installations are done when the temperature permits.

Midwest Construction recommends placing the dumpster for your project on your driveway or if possible in the street. We veer away from placing dumpsters in our customer's yards to avoid damaging the grass or leaving ruts. But it is ultimately up to the homeowner, but we like make sure our homeowners are aware of the cons of placing it in the yard.

Windows

Energy Star defines U-Factor as how well the window insulates. It measures the heat transfer through a window. A low U-Factor indicates a greater resistance to heat flow (in and out) and a better insulation value.

No. Windows do not cause condensation. But windows are often the first place where condensation can be seen. Think about it, you're probably not surprised or concerned when your bathroom mirror becomes fogged after a hot shower. Your car windows fog up in humid weather or in winter when you have several passengers. And although condensation usually occurs in cold weather, it can occur during humid months when air conditioning is running. The mirror or car windows don't cause condensation, these are just the first places you see condensation.

If your old windows were drafty, those cracks did more than just let in the wind; they allowed excess moisture to escape outdoors. Your new windows are better insulated, so indoor humidity can't escape. Windows do not cause condensation and they also can't eliminate condensation. Your windows are alerting you to excess humidity in your home.

Condensation forms when warm, humid air contacts a cold surface. Moisture is in the air all around us and warmer air can hold more moisture. As air cools, it contracts, and its moisture condenses. When the temperature drops, the first place you will see any condensation is on the windows. Your windows are the coldest surfaces indoors. During colder months, indoor air is much warmer and holds more moisture than outdoor air, which is colder and dry. Warm, humid indoor air cools and contracts; as it contacts the cooler windows, the moisture condenses on the glass.

Siding

Vinyl siding is little to no maintenance. No painting, staining, caulking or sealing your vinyl or composite siding. We only offer highly durable and low-maintenance siding options to withstand various weather conditions.

Cleaning your vinyl siding with a garden hose and a mild soap, when necessary, should do the trick.

Decking

The cost of a deck replacement in Iowa typically ranges depending on the size, materials, and design features. Several factors influence deck pricing, including:

  • Deck size and layout
  • Choice of materials\Height and structural complexity
  • Custom features like built-in seating, lighting, or pergolas
  • Permits and local building requirements

Get a free, no-obligation quote today to see exactly what your deck will cost based on your space and vision.

Wood decking is typically more affordable upfront and offers a classic, natural appearance, but it does require ongoing maintenance such as staining and sealing to keep it looking its best. Composite decking has a higher initial cost, but it’s low-maintenance, resistant to rot and insects, and built to last significantly longer.

Many homeowners choose composite for its durability and long-term value. As a custom deck contractor in Iowa, we offer a wide range of decking materials and design options, allowing us to tailor your deck to fit your style, budget, and lifestyle.

Absolutely. Our portfolio includes a wide range of custom deck designs, from simple backyard builds to more complex, multi-level outdoor living spaces. You can explore our Past Projects page to see real examples of our craftsmanship and get inspiration for your own deck. It’s a great way to understand the quality and attention to detail we bring to every project.

In most areas, a permit is required for deck construction, especially for elevated or attached decks. Local building codes and requirements can vary, which is why it’s important to ensure everything is done correctly from the start.

At Midwest Construction, we take care of the entire permitting process for you. From submitting plans to coordinating inspections, you don’t have to worry about the paperwork or regulations. Contact us for a free quote and let our team handle everything from permits to your final deck installation
