Midwest Construction is the leader in Iowa remodeling because of family work ethic and dedication. Founder, Alex P. Despenas believed in family values and dedicated his life to ensuring Midwest provided quality products and service. His dedication and hard work has been passed down to his family, now in it's 3rd generation. Midwest is the leader in Iowa for replacement windows, siding, gutters and sunrooms because of the family ideals and work ethic. But Midwest Construction's family goes beyond blood relation; all of their employees are family and share in the values of founder, Alex P. Despenas.

Tony Despenas

Tony Despenas, oldest son of Alex Despenas, grew up in the industry. Tony worked on siding and window crews as a helper and crew leader. After serving in the Navy and Vietnam, Tony came home to run the family restaurant business with mother Ethel. Even while running a restaurant, Tony would work with his Dad and learn selling skills by watching his dad, a master salesman. Tony has trained many successful salesman and works daily with our sales team. He also assists Kalli with important company decisions. Tony lives in Milo, Iowa with his wife Judy. He has 2 grown daughters Angie and Tiffany, both from Minnesota along with Judy's 2 children Chris and Kim, they share six beautiful grandchildren.

Kalli Eaton

Kalli Eaton has been with the company since 1986. She is the oldest daughter of the founder Alex Despenas. Alex tutored Kalli for years about what it takes to stay in business in today's world. She is the family caretaker and understands the "balance" of being in a competitive industry as well as being in a "family business". She is very organized and fair, and she is definitely the right person for the job. As MWC grew, Kalli has been able to manage the growth of the business and still raise a family. She lives in Nora Springs with her husband Mark Eaton and has two grown children and three grandchildren.

Maria O'Handley

Maria O'Handley is the middle daughter of the founder Alex Despenas. She has been involved with the company in many different capacities. Her main responsibility is bookkeeping and billing between our 2 offices and 3 departments. She lives in Waterloo with her husband P.K. O'Handley, coach of the Waterloo Blackhawks hockey team. Maria has 2 grandchildren.

Paul Despenas

Paul Despenas is the youngest son of the founder Alex Despenas. Paul "grew up" in the home improvement industry and has become the marketing manager for the company. He has a great understanding of what it takes to be successful in today's market. He is responsible for over 60 events a year for the company coordinates all advertising. He has worked in every phase of the business and has been responsible for many of the company awards and achievements in the Home Improvement Industry. Paul lives in Johnston with his 2 daughters Alexa and Alaina.

Production Managers

Brent Jandebeur started working for MWC shortly after graduating from business school in 1985. He is our designated "inside man". He handles payroll, window installation and ordering. He has become a very integral part of MWC and has played a big part in the growth of the company. He lives in Clear Lake with his wife Amy and their children Chris, Troy, and Emily.

Mark Eaton, son-in-law of founder. He is married to Kalliope. Mark grew up in the home improvement business in Waterloo and met Kalliope when he attended college in Mason City. Mark and Kalliope started working for Alex in 1986 when Midwest became the OMNI Window dealer for the state of Iowa. In 1990 Mark started working with a sunroom manufacturer and soon Midwest added another important part to their product line, making Midwest a leader in sunrooms in Iowa. Mark and Kalliope live in Nora Springs and have 2 grown children Jason and wife Julie, Cassie and husband David Turk. 3 grandchildren, Sydney, Courtney and Tyler.

Assistant Siding Production Manager

Zane Kantaris, Grandson of the founder Alex P. Despenas. Zane grew up in the industry and as a youngster he would help out in the warehouse, unloading trucks and with the crews during the summer months. In 2004 Zane and Andy began installing gutters. Now Zane's responsibilities include scheduling siding installation, ordering material, and checking on production crews daily. Zane lives in Mason City with his wife Angela and 2 children, Kellen and Elena Maria Kae.

Gutter Installation

Andy Evans has been installing gutters for Midwest Construction since 2004. In addition to installation, he is responsible for ordering materials and all of their own scheduling of installations throughout our marketing area in Iowa and Minnesota. Andy had worked previously in the gutter industry and brought good knowledge of the equipment and installation to MWC. Andy lives in Mason City with his wife Kelly and 2 daughters Adyson and Brogan.

Geoff Thomas came to MWC in 2008. He grew up friends with the family and started out in the warehouse and driving the company truck delivering materials, and setting up home shows. Geoff has since shown interest in the business and has branched out into gutter installation and home shows and events in the winter months. Geoff lives in Mason City.

Field Service Manager

Jeff Hall is our field service rep. His main responsibilities are to measure all new window installs and put together material lists. When our crews show up to do your custom install they have the proper materials for a fast, clean installation. Jeff also services all of the products Midwest Construction sells and installs. Jeff brings his many years of quality craftsmanship and construction experience to Midwest Construction. Jeff lives in Des Moines with his Black Lab, Paisly.

Assistant Events and Promotion Manager

Bobby Baker started with MWC in high school working in the warehouse and helping set up home shows and fairs. After working for MWC part time, he graduated and came to work full time. His main responsibilities include scheduling, setting up and tearing down our shows and events in Mason City and Des Moines. In addition he has become a valuable asset working at the shows and within our marketing department. He lives in Mason City with his wife Echo and children Shyanne, Dakota, Kiera and Koltyn.

Matt Kloberdanz grew up in Mason City and came to MWC in 2010. He came to Midwest Construction with sales and marketing experience. Matt's main responsibilities include warehouse manager, setting up, tearing down and working home shows and events in the Des Moines area. Matt now lives in Des Moines.

Appointment Coordinators

Barb Rinnels and Sandy Minert have been with MWC for many years. Their main duties are to set and schedule appointments for our representative's daily schedules. They coordinate times, dates and directions and communicate that to the sales manager and reps daily. They make sure that whether it's vinyl siding in Iowa or replacement windows in Des Moines, your appointment is scheduled to meet your needs. Sandy lives in Mason City, and has 2 grown children Scott and Kristy and 5 grandchildren. Barb and her husband Gary also live in Mason City.

Mason City Receptionist

Kyla Servantez has been working at MWC since high school. Her main responsibilities include database management, answering incoming calls, services, and warranties. Kyla has also taken on the responsibility as the Marketing Coordinator. Kyla lives in Mason City with her husband Shane and daughter Cambree.

Grimes Office Manager

Janet Fields main duties in the Grimes operation are to run the office and the paperwork associated with the daily operation; including Data base management and receptionist. Janet lives in Grimes and has 3 children: Christopher, Brandi and Phillip, and 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Gavin, Cody and Ashlynn.
